Setup plane plotter to read data from a dump1090/piaware feed. Place the markers to calibrate the map to actual GPS coordinates. Download a nice high definition map of the area you want to view. Plane plotter has an offline mapping program. You can then send the plane GPS coordinates to an offline mapping program just like PiAware. If you don’t have a cellphone tower connection then you will only see the plane GPS coordinates in a list.
If you have an active cellphone tower connection you can view them on a google map.

The easiest way to get mapping in remote places is to either use the FlightFeeder app for Android OR use plane plotter. If your offline mapping program can accepts these plane positions you are good to go. PiAware can output plane GPS coordinates in compatible formats (SBS format, Beast format and Raw format). This requires you to have an active internet connection to get the map which is overlaid with plane positions. PiAware itself uses google maps for mapping. The major advantages of satellite navigation are real time positioning and timing synchronization. It is mainly used in positioning, navigation, monitoring and surveying applications. It has created the revolution in navigation and position location.
The GPS coordinates are sent in the transponder messages sent from ADSB equipped planes. Global Positioning System (GPS) is a navigation system based on satellite.

Here is the code he linked to: flightaware/piaware/blob/0eec6e07db850c59e49fa8579432099b574ab12d/programs/piaware/faup.You don’t need a GPS unit to get plane mapping in remote locations. When I identified the problem, eric1tran located code that shows home location position changes of approximately < 250 meters are ignored. Is it possible for FA to assign a Unique Identifier: xxxx-xxxx-… to my fairly low number PlanePlotter receiver site internally on their servers so that I can migrate that to a Pi and maintain my fairly low number FA sit… This is not meant to be a us or them type of post. I fully understand the changes FlightAware is making on regarding PlanePlotter data sent using the “secondary sharing” method direct from PlanePlotter. Unique Identifier: xxxx Assigned to PlanePlotter sites for transition? ADS-B Flight Tracking Everything restarts and now both the control panel and PiAware are using the exact coordinates. Then go back and put in the correct coordinates. This change will restart everything with the new “bad” coordinates. I did this by increasing my lat by 0.01 degrees = 0.6 nautical miles. The previous uncorrected coordinates will continue to be used and displayed in htop. While a small change like your 70’ will be reflected in the site configuration display, it WILL NOT be updated in PiAware. I ran in to this back in December 2019 and reported it to FA then.
I’ve tried making a change and rebooting (a suggestion I found from older thread) but it didn’t work. The Lat/Long is correct in Site Configuration and is accurate on Google Earth but I can’t get a change in Site Configuration to be reflected in PiAware. I’m using an outdoor high-gain antenna and everything is working great except that my location in PiAware is off by about 70’ (basically showing up as being on the neighbor’s house). I just setup my receive station (127849 - KJPN - Barcroft) using PiAware and the FlightAware ProStick.
